MoVa unveils Oil on Canvas, a womenswear collection inspired by J.M.W. Turner’s enduring fascination with the dialogue between nature and human creation. Throughout his paintings, architecture emerges from landscapes, nature gradually intertwines with human craftsmanship, and engineered forms dissolve beneath shifting skies and changing light. Rather than depicting opposition, Turner revealed harmony, where craftsmanship and nature continuously reshape one another. Oil on Canvas translates this philosophy into garments designed for contemporary occasions. Structured tailoring meets fluid draping, delicate embellishment interrupts clean silhouettes, and surfaces evolve as light moves across them. Like Turner’s paintings, each piece is never entirely fixed - it changes with movement, atmosphere and perspective. Remaining true to MoVa’s philosophy, the collection embraces timeless design created to move through cycles of use, care and rediscovery.
Inspired by J.M.W. Turner’s paintings of luminous skies, quiet Venetian waterways and cultivated landscapes, where nature and human craftsmanship exist in constant conversation. A collection exploring structure softened by movement, and elegance shaped by time.

Oil on Canvas explores the contrasts that define Turner’s work. Precision and spontaneity. Architecture and landscape. Stillness and movement. Throughout the collection, structured silhouettes are interrupted by fluid draping, organic embroidery and softly shifting surfaces, reflecting the quiet dialogue between the natural and the manmade.
The Fragment series embodies this idea most directly. Hand-applied floral embroidery flows across crisp satin silhouettes like sea foam meeting stone, allowing delicate organic forms to dissolve into clean architectural lines. The embroidery becomes less decoration than transition—nature slowly reclaiming structure.
Elsewhere, light becomes the central material. The Glace Dress recalls the warm golden atmosphere of Turner’s skies through sculptural draping that gathers and unfolds like layered clouds. The Pearl Dress introduces a luminous jacquard whose surface subtly changes with light, while freshwater pearls placed at the ends of the halter ties echo recurring symbols of the sea found throughout Turner’s marine works.
The knitwear introduces another interpretation of Turner’s palette. The Sunrise pieces borrow their rich terracotta tone from the glowing sunsets that define many of his later paintings, while the Venice Dress reflects the softer greens of his Venetian canals, where architecture gradually disappears into water, moss and reflected light. Open knit structures create breathable surfaces that allow movement and air to become part of the garment itself, while organically shaped hardware recalls natural forms shaped over time.
The campaign unfolds within the gardens and architecture of a historic palace—a setting where carefully designed landscapes meet enduring stone structures. This environment mirrors the collection’s central idea: elegance emerging through the coexistence of cultivation and nature, making it a fitting backdrop for garments created to accompany life’s celebrations, from intimate summer gatherings to weddings and evening occasions.
Designed with MoVa’s circular philosophy in mind, Oil on Canvas invites garments to evolve alongside their wearer. Like the paintings that inspired it, the collection is intended to reveal new character through changing light, new surroundings and repeated moments of wear—celebrating beauty not as something static, but as something that continues to unfold over time.
